Make your next
learning session STICKY.

Choose a short explanation from a book or lesson. Work through these four steps, then check your understanding against the original source.

01 · Understand what is actually happening

Read the explanation and identify the main idea. Ask: what are the parts, how do they relate, and which details change the meaning?

Try this: Finish the sentence “This works because…” in plain language.

02 · Make a connection that fits

Choose a picture, story or familiar comparison. Map each part of it to the real idea. Write down one place where the comparison breaks down.

Try this: Sketch the relationship between two parts and label what each part does.

03 · Recall, then check

Close the source and explain the idea as if you were teaching a friend. Reopen it and compare. Correct missing details and misunderstandings.

Try this: Write one question you should be able to answer next time.

04 · Apply it and return

Try a new example that was not used in the explanation. Then choose a later time to explain the idea again without looking.

Try this: Put a short reminder on your own calendar for tomorrow. Adjust your routine as you see what you can recall.
